Atuwa and Putuwa in SL Education

At village houses in agri-based rural Sri Lanka, 'atuwa" (paddy store) and 'putuwa" (chair) are equally important items for the simple life style of villagers.

Popular quotation on atuwa and putuwa comes to my mind as I look at the current struggle in the island on so called free (free of charge) education and paid education at tertiary level.

While a majority of the concerned public shout that they need only atuwa; the popular minister of higher education try his level best to make putuwa by breaking atuwa.

Nobody understand that for the simple village life style both atuwa and putuwa are equally needed....
